Version 1.3c added routines to avoid bombing the program if a drive
door is open and fixed a minor bug in display after exchange. A change
was made in requests for contributions, which are now to be directed to
the Forbin Project Inc. (Please note that the contribution is for
Qfonedit. Thanks!)
Version 1.3b involved only documentary changes: A directory name other
than QMODEM.FON may be entered on the DOS command line. Some "Turbo-
style" cursor control commands work in Qfonedit.
Version 1.3a involved minor, non-substantive changes. The docs changed
only in updating the version number.
Version 1.3 implemented a revised sorting routine, which speeds up sorts
over ranges with null entries, and multifield searches where there are
few ties in the first field sorted.
While at it, I added the capability for Qfonedit to search along the DOS
PATH for QMODEM.FON before reporting that it cannot be found. With DOS 2.0
or later, if a PATH command has been given to DOS, if QMODEM.FON is not
found in the configured directory or the current directory, the PATH will
be searched in the normal DOS order, until either QMODEM.FON has been found
or the end of the PATH has been reached.
The only changes in the docs were in describing the PATH-related function.
Versions 1.2x involved minor changes: the addition of copywrite info,
change to right-justification of phone numbers, etc.
Version 1.2 finished the correction of problems with monochrome
adapters. John Friel and Tom Neff reported that TURBO.COM must be
installed for the default display to insure compatability. Also, path-
related functions were made to recognize DOS 2.X and cripple themselves
accordingly.
Version 1.1A corrected one cause of the reported problem with display on
a monochrome adapter. Borland tech support "accused" me of "good research"
when I asked them if TextMode() disabled the display adapter. Yes, it does,
they said, and it is on the list of problems to fix. Why doesn't it appear
in the manual or the READ.ME? Because some things just never get there.
And, they said, TextMode() is of no use unless a previous change to
graphics mode has been made. Sorry about that.
Version 1.1 has corrected a bug which caused Qfonedit to (sometimes)
be unable to save its .CNF file.
Thanks to John Friel III (author of Qmodem), Qfonedit can now read the
default communication parameters and the screen colors contained in the
QMODEM.CNF file.
The Main Menu command "Tidy up" has been added. This operates on the
same groups of lines as Sort. It moves all null entries to the bottom of
the chosen group (page, global, etc.)
Cheers! Karl
